I am an Art Editor, with over ten years experience in the publishing industry. I design page layouts, gift packaging, marketing material and digital artwork across a portfolio of both adult and children's publications. My LinkedIn profile can be seen below.
I studied Visual Communication (Graphic Design, Illustration and Animation) resulting in a BA in Digital Art in 2009. My ambition has always been editorial design, which inspired me to advance my studies into the publishing industry, and in 2016, I achieved an MSc in Publishing at Edinburgh Napier University.
I first entered the industry when I joined DC Thomson as a Junior Designer in 2015. I worked on a range of well know titles including Shout, Jacqueline Wilson, and Juniper Magazine.
I moved to London in 2018 as a Senior Designer at Immediate Media. I have since progressed to my current role as Art Editor, liaising with licensors of global brands and page layouts, gift packaging and digital artwork for various publications with very different design styles. These include Pokémon, Mega, Lego and various Disney brands, while I am also involved with contributing to the design of creating new successful titles.
In my role as Art Editor, I research the relevant brands for inspiration and experimenting with new designs as a result, all while making sure all designs adhere to each individual style guide. Utilising my expertise in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator, I create dynamic and engaging artwork for each brand to ensure they stand out against all competitors. Since taking on the role as sole designer on Pokémon, it has become the second biggest magazine in the Boys market for RSV and is the number one boys mag written and designed in the UK.
